Artist Statement

My artwork is inspired by pop culture, surrealism and abstract expression.  I have been strongly influenced by the works of Jeff Koons, René Magritte, Piet Mondrian and M.C. Escher.  It is a minimalistic style with definitive use of bold shapes and bright colors.

My images focus on current events using the concept of childlike innocence with a modern interpretation to explore themes of everyday life.  Intentionally natural aspects of the wooden figures are accentuated or left exposed to represent our own uniqueness and imperfections.

All figures are hand painted and then photographed, with the final composite image mounted on acrylic or metal.
